ALPOLIC™ – A role model in terms of sustainability

At ALPOLICTM, careful and respectful use of resources is already anchored in the Group's own KAITEKI philosophy of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation and is therefore a matter of course for us. This is demonstrated on the one hand by the durability of our products and on the other hand by the fact that ALPOLICTM aluminium composite panels are manufactured in accordance with the strictest safety and environmental regulations.

An attitude with consequences, because all materials and production waste used at ALPOLICTM are 100% recyclable. Even the waste generated in the production process is collected and returned to the recycling cycle. In addition, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation is committed to continuous improvements in environmental protection far beyond the statutory requirements. We want to be at the forefront of sustainability in the future, too, because we are convinced that only those who produce sustainably can grow sustainably.

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

For the ALPOLICTM aluminium composite panels, the positive life cycle assessment was certified in the form of an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) by the accredited testing institute Kiwa BCS Öko-Garantie GmbH. This proves the sustainability of the products from the cradle to the factory sector (cradle-to-gate) and at the same time serves as an important basis for the sustainability assessment of buildings. In order to certify the sustainability of a building, detailed life cycle assessment data of the building products used must be available. These are summarised and documented in an EPD. EPDs are internationally recognized and are tested and certified by independent third parties before publication. With an EPD, architects and specialist planners already benefit from a clear presentation of all relevant information regarding the life cycle assessment of the selected product in the planning phase.

The environmental product declaration for the ALPOLICTM composite panels is a so-called Type III declaration, which was drawn up on the basis of EN 15804 and ISO 14025. It contains all relevant information on the use of energy and resources as well as the influence of the product on the greenhouse effect, acidification, eutrophication, destruction of the ozone layer and smog formation. An average product from the product series ALPOLICTM A2, ALPOLICTM/fr and ALPOLICTM real anodised was considered in each case. The environmental impacts were shown for the product with the highest gross density. The EPD for the ALPOLICTM composite panels can be downloaded here.

You too can rely on sustainability for your next project. We will be happy to inform you.
