Valencia fire: ALPOLIC Statement

March 2024

In light of the tragic fire disaster in Valencia, we would like to assure you that no architectural applications in Europe after 1998 have been clad with ALPOLIC aluminium composite panels (ACM) containing a polyethylene (PE) core. The safety of human life is our top priority and has a significant influence on our product developments. For this reason, since 1999 we have only produced composite panels that are either flame-retardant (B-s1, d0) or have a non-combustible core. We make no compromises when it comes to safety.

Back in 2010, we took a decisive step with the market launch of ALPOLICTM A2 by introducing a non-combustible composite material with the classification A2-s1, d0. Since then, we have continued to develop and in 2021 launched ALPOLICTM NC/A1, the first composite panel with the highest possible fire rating A1 in accordance with EN 13501-1.

We are currently the only manufacturer to offer ACM with this fire safety classification. Fire safety is a top priority in all our development processes. ALPOLICTM NC/A1 has not only passed numerous international fire tests, but is also comprehensively certified. In addition, we are in constant dialogue with national authorities in order to constantly adapt and further develop our products to the latest safety standards. Our primary goal is to offer our customers the highest level of safety. If you have any questions on this topic, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our technical experts will be happy to assist you: info-alpolic@mcgc.com
